Field sharp?

I've seen a few references to kukris being "field sharp". What does this denote?

I notice mine came sharp, but not razor sharp (you wouldn't really want one to be razor sharp would you?).

Field sharp means it is sharper than normal in my experience. I like field sharp.

I've always used 'field sharp' to denote a blade properly sharpened for real work. A razor sharp blade is not the best for brutal chopping, imho.

REal world sharp. For actual conditions. Probably cut paper but it wouldn't be your choice to shave with.

But the edge will last.

Yep, typically the ones that I have gotten that were "field sharp" were sharp enough to cut right out of the box. A lot of times the villager models come a bit sharper as the finishing polish put on the standard models tends to dull the blade slightly. However, ALL of the khuks that I have received since the new shop opening have come sharp enough to cut me right out of the box:thumbup:
