Like most users on here I have a variety of blades and these blades have a variety of grinds... only recently have I begun to purchase knives or sharpen knives w/ a convex grind...
So if one were backpacking/camping/whatever and were to take a few blades w/ them that had a mixture of Vgrinds and Convexed, would one need to pack say a traditional stone (for the v's) and a strop (for the convexes) or would it be easier to just convex all the edges?
Thoughts?

Wow man thanks a lot that does look like one heck of a nice system... gonna have to pick one up no question about that... one thing though, whats the difficulty sharpening v grinds on sandpaper?

So do u sharpen on paper like a traditional stone or do so w/ the edge trailing like you would a convex?

You can take a small loaded strop or a ceramic rod, either one is simple and light.

The KSF kit is used entirely edge-trailing, and will slowly convex a v-bevel over time. It's a great field-sharpening solution for almost everything, I think. If the convex bothers you, you can always straighten out the bevels again once you get back to your shop and proper sharpening gear.

The best field sharpener will be the Dmt duo-fold blue/red. If you want one for convexed, glue some leather to a paint stirring stick.

I do edge trailing. I just have a sharpmaker and the KSF kit right now. Sold the edge pro. The CTS-20CP para2 is not good to resharpen (will touch up fine) on the ceramics so I used the sic paper that came with the kit. Nice and sharp once again.
