This was supposed to be an in/out all the way to Foster Falls. I hiked in early Tuesday afternoon to Raven Point, and planned to go to Foster Falls, then back to Raven Point Wednesday, then take the Dog Hole trail from there back to where it hits Fiery Gizzard. I've been fortunate not to need my chiropractor this year, but had some problems Wednesday morning. Was over 4 hours late breaking camp, and still very stiff. Hiked back by Dog Hole, and drove to Foster Falls, instead hiking it all.

The mix of sunshine and shade was horrible for pics, but I had a wonderful time. The first 5 miles of the Fiery Gizzard trail is nonstop playground for me, and I had to force myself get back on the trail to even make it to Raven Point before dark, because it took 2.5 hours to get through the first 1.6 miles.

The Fruit Bowl(pic doesn't relate how BIG these boulders are)

A few from along the creek, which was beautiful, and there were lots of what I would assume are seasonal falls on either side of the gorge.

Very pretty. I'm still waiting on the promise of a decent amount of snow to kick in sometime today / tomorrow.

Thanks! As I hiked it, this would best be done as a dayhike, but driving up there after work makes for a late start.
I put it up there with the Honey Creek loop at Big South Fork, and the Virgin Falls trail, both of which I also loved.

Thanks; I like that one, too! There are tons of beautiful spots, but I wasn't able to capture many well. There were shots I took 15 times, and after deleting 14 of them, went back and deleted the 15th one, as well. Then there were places that were shaded, like Sycamore Falls, where I randomly uploaded a pic, because I kinda like all of them!
Backpacker Magazine rates this among the top 25 trails in the US. Maybe I was lucky so many pics didn't come out-I might still be uploading them! :D

Here's the only video I've uploaded:

Vey nice Owen. I have not hiked or otherwise explored there. Thanks.

Added: Are the wild flowers blooming or close to blooming based on what you saw along the trails?

They had just started blooming, but a hard freeze since probably set everything back a bit.

Here's the natural bridge:

And a drainage that crosses the trail. I was actually going off about whining trip reports whenever rocks were involved(and about a trip report misrepresenting where the natural bridge was in the other one), hence the youtube music:rolleyes:

The brilliant colors in those photos make me think they were taken with a Cannon camera. Great photos for sure!

Thanks; all my pics are straight off a handheld Nikon P310, with no editing.
I have to experiment with the settings some, but it does pretty good for a point and shoot.

I told you already, but awesome pictures. Thanks for taking us along! I'm going to have to sit down and watch the vids later!

Thanks y'all. This really is an outstanding hike. Beautiful and very diverse.

really great pictures. We have, of course, NOTHING like that in Florida. Thanks for sharing your day.
