John White, JS has been on my short list of makers to buy for a couple of years. He built a very slick 7.5" ebony fighter that lasted about 15 minutes on a purveyor's website, two years ago. It really floated my boat, however I was just too slow to act, but I have kept my eye out for a similar piece.
John delivered an almost identical version of the knife at Blade 2006, and I had a chance to handle it and examine it close up. I was sold, it was only a question of when. John mentioned that he was planning on building a larger version of the knife with African blackwood and damascus fittings. He asked if I would be interested in it.
I may be prejudiced, but I think it is his nicest blade to date.
The 9.625" blade is made of 1075 steel, the handle is African blackwood and the fittings are damascus with nickle silver spacers.
