Didn't want everybody to think I had quit making knives! I haven't posted anything for a while. I'm just neck deep in getting ready for Atlanta and haven't taken much time for photography.
I had to do these for progess pictures to show the cutomer, so I thought I'd toss 'em up for ya'll to take a look at while you're sippin' coffee.
A pretty straight forward fighter with stainless fittings and a blackwood handle.
Still has a way to go, but interesting enough to post.
I do most of my shaping with cabinetry files, as this really gives me a great deal of control in what I want to do. That knife is in a three-vise work station designed specifically for this process.
Anyway, I'll post the "final" when I'm all done.
Enjoy!

Karl, Blade is little more than 3 months away. Calm down! Looking forward to seeing this knife completed. Will this be one you are submitting for your JS stamp?

I was going to say, Don't you just get into it a couple of weeks before the show and say @#$#@ I better get movin? Some of my best stuff is done under pressure. This year will be my first foray to Atlanta and I'm ahead of the game for a change. Will you be in Novi this year Karl? If so , see you there.

It's a little more than TWO months, not three.

Looks good, Karl, see you at Atlanta!

I don't even know what I'm going to submit yet.
I figured the night before, I would just lay out about 10 knives on a table in their pouches and pick 5 with my eyes closed!

Can't wait to see the final result. Looks great so far. I really appreciate seeing the progression.

Thanks,
Peter

10 knives Karl? That's a lot of eye candy. This one sure looks nice. See you in Atlanta.

Karl,

I noticed your little Atlas lathe in the background. I picked one up for a local guy exactly like it. Have you liked yours? Have you had any problems or suggestions to make it run better? I'm no machinist so I pretty much have to teach myself how to use it. I'm sure it can't be to difficult, fairly self explanatory. I guess I just wondered how you liked yours.

I'll tell you what, I found that on Ebay as listed by a fellow in Chicago who was from Poland. He was the descendant of a line of "machinists". It seems that it is all his family has ever done.
Anyway, he had quite an impressive shop on Chicago's south side where he rebuilt lathes, mills, etc. This one I bought is about 30 years old, but when I got it from him, it looked like NEW! That guys knows what he's doing. Quite honestly, building as many take-down knives as I do, I couldn't do a day's work without it.
I have a manual if you need any info.

Karl,
Your take-downs just floor me(as well as your regular constructed:)) and this one is no different.
Thanks for the whole thread.
