A piece I recently just finished up and had shot by Coop.

Handle is 22" curly ash, with bronze details.

Head is a 4" cutting edge, 8" over all length, 10 strands of 15n20 and 1095.

I am the sole author of this piece, I forged the steel, all the fabrication, and carving.

Available and listed over in the exchange!

That thing is beautiful, and the shaping of the head itself is amazing.

How is it held on? Usually you would see a wedge on the top of the haft, but instead I think I'm seeing a copper or bronze dressing of some kind that's nailed in place?

That, Sir, is a absolutely stunning piece! A masterpiece, imho. (I want to see the sword in your avatar too).

Wow, that is incredible!

I to like the shape of the head, and the flow of the handle looks very comfortable and creative! Very nice work.....impressive!

Wow. Gorgeous.
Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong but it doesn't look like it's intended as a user given how the head appears to be attached.
(Yes, i know it's a fighter)
If it is, that's even more amazing.
You're an artist, sir.

I'm with you guys. I took one look after unboxing it and went "Whooaaa!"

The shapes are so flowing and there are additions which I'd never had thought of.

His steel is SO satisfying and has the River of Terror running through it.

The top plate is just that. I'd be sure that head is held on firmly with a wedge out of sight.

You may recall his previous hawk:

Nice to see this, Tom. Keep it up.

Thanks for the compliments! Actually it is wedged under the cap, the eye is hour glass shaped as it should be, the collar on the bottom is what the axe seats on, its wedged, then the cap is just over the top to make a cleaner finish, I always had a problem trying to find a way to make the wedge area as clean as it could be. My goal is to get the custom world to like axes as much as they like bowies and folders. :D

Count one big success here:thumbup:

Wow... that head hanging approach is brilliant! I'd mention it when you next sell an axe, as it certainly raised my esteem of the piece.

Love it. Just incredible. I like the simpler handle on the other one Coop posted, but that's just me. Both pieces are gorgeous.

no kidding!
The picture makes it look like the haft cap and the lower dressing are one piece.
Out of the park.
