This is my latest creation. The steel is 1.2842 (O2) selectively hardened. The guard and the liner of the coffin handle are made from the same steel. Woods are Palissander and ebony. The mosaic pin has two different ends. One has a "H" (last name of the new owner starts with a H) the other side has two brass knobs.

It took some time and playing with different materials to get the balans right. Now it balances right in front of the guard.

The blade has a handrubbed finish (1000 grit) and some filework on the back.

Hope you like it.

Time for some pics, greetings Toni

That's a real pretty bowie IMHO. The faceting and chamfer shapes on the handle, plus the wood choices, set this handle apart from most coffin handles I've seen. Thanks for posting the pics for us to drool over.

Pointy is as pointy does.

I agree wholeheartedly.
I am not normally a fan of the coffin-handled design, but this one is beautifully executed and I LOVE it!

Well done.

A truly beautiful creation. True to the inspiration but just different enough to make it "yours." Great work ! Jason.

Thanks for the comments. The blade was as you mentioned inspired on the Bagwell bowies. I always liked them a lot. I think my blade is a bit different, because it is 5mm thick on the back. From that measurement it is tapered to the point. Although I've never seen a Bagwell in real live, I think his blades, of the same length, are a bit thicker. The totall length is 16 inch, bladelength is 11 inches.

greetings Toni

Dude! where have you been hiding. I love it! Like arawn said I am not usually a coffin handle fan but that really raises my hackles. Hey wait....am I supposed to have hackles?

How much? My birthday is coming up and I might be able to grovel enough with the little woman to get her to buy it!

While I have not handled a bunch of Bagwells, I can say I like the look of yours better!

Well Dirk, this knife is a gift for an uncle, who fixed my car severel times. He didn't want anything for it, but I know he likes big knives. So I made this one for him.

Check your e-mail for the price of a similar knife.
