hey all just finished this file bowie for a friend who shoots black powder reenactments he wanted a file knife he's gonna make the sheath out of rawhide its made out of a horse rasp file W-2 i think . i might still put a pin in the handle but didn't want to grined "or Clean the "OLD" of the handle he wanted it to look old so asked me not to mess with the antler to much .
this knife is 16" overall and has a 11" blade .if i knew what to put on the blade to look older i would .

i have heard some sort of weaker acid like , yellow mustard and citrus, the mustard would give it a slight bronze tint i think/

looks good, how did you attach the handle?

good job

for now 2 ton glue i'll put a pin in brass and ping it in so as not to have to grind on the handle also to make it look older

It LOOKS AWESOME ! Vinegar is another option, mustard works well theres fer sure a ton of ways to antique it.

I think Copper pins would look good on it. I make a lotta file knives myself, but nuttin that cool yet

White vinger on a towle and leave, rap the blade and leave it over night at least. Then just lightly buff it back out. Try a small piece of steel first, but I think that will give you the look you are goimg for.
