Most of us here realize there is a vast difference between combat and fighting knives. Example, the SH is just too heavy to be handled swiftly by most people. SO: did anybody at BLADE handle a Busse knife that can be handled swiftly, is well balanced for fighting, and has a suitable design/blade length for fighting? I'm currently modifying a ZT-NO but would consider buying a purpose built fighter if one exists.

I think the old SJ would have worked just fine. I don't know on the new one, as it is, I think, a bit beefier than the old, but I've heard that all of them are livelier than the old line was, so there may be some distal tapering going on. In that case---well, that just opens up a new can. :)

Look for the PBF (Pure Bred Fighter) series knives. They weren't discontinued that long ago, and I see them pop up for sale regularly here and on ebay. 3 different sizes. The smallest was the Killer B, and IIRC it was just slightly longer than the MS--can anyone help me on that? The other 2 knives were never officially named and never saw full production, but they're out there to be found none the less. Again, IIRC, the blade lengths were 4" (Killer B), 6", & 8". It sounds like that's what you're looking for. You might very humbly ask a gold member to do a search on them here for you.

Mr Birch to answer your question very simply is that all the new knives are quicker and imo more aggressive than the old e series. They all have a gradual taper to the tip making them have a finer tip,the edges are symmetrical and very fine and the handles are very comfortable, they were the nicest combat knives at blade by far.

Howdy,

I take Escrima (filipino stick and knife), and currently use either a NO or Public Defender.....with the new line, I'd say look at the Tank Buster, it looks pretty handy. There was also a blade shown in the pics that has a blood groove, which you want on a fighter....

PROTOTYPE FIGHTER
either a 6 1/2" or 7 1/2" blade, I can't remember which - sorry

I would check out the recurve fighters. They balance at about the front handle fastener, behind the talon hole. They are also 3/16", and are quick in the hand! Plus, they look designed for stabbing ;)

The gradual taper is also something I noticed....it is more influential than you might think. It makes many of the blades more neutrally balanced and thins out the tips a bit, a plus for my uses.
