Has anyone seen Windtalkers? A Navajo actor carried ( and made good use of ) what appeared to be a crown stag handled fighter. It would be nice to get a better view of the knife & find out who the maker is.

Stag handle aside, the knives looked very plain. I couldn't catch much detail.

As for the movie; It reminds me of the classic John Wayne war film where one shot drops a dozen indians. Not very realistic, but entertaining so long as you don't take it too seriously. At least it is non-discriminating, and treats both the Japanese and American military as a crowd of bungling idiots. If it wasn't for our four troopers no one would have though to call in support, to attack, or even to run away. In real life I would have expected someone in the eight infantry division to do something. Perhaps one of the officer types, which for some reason are conspicous in the complete abscense. But, who needs them, I am sure those two native Americans ,and their handlers could have taken out the entire Japanese Empire, if only those other pesky Americans would have kept out of the way.

Oh yes, plenty of old fashion knife fighting and knife throwing, and everything is a mere flesh wound until the head comes off. :)

The knife did appear to be plain - but the special effects weren't. Your comparison to an old format is pretty accurate. Near the end, Gage drops 4 or 5 of the enemy with his .45 with possibly 3 or 4 shots while hardly looking - after his (I lost count) ? wound. It seems more and more that movie makers aren't willing to break new ground ... still curious about that knife, though.

The tv commercials looked stupid and now the whole thing sounds like it stunk. Good to know. Ever see that Nick Cage movie where he flies an apache helicopter going against drug runners? Worst movie I ever saw in my life.

I reckon I'll still have to see it , but dammit I was really looking forward to this movie!
I had high hopes for it being a good one, oh well. Paul.

I watched a pre-screening of the movie, the day before one of my final exams. Waste of 2 hours. The whole movie consisted of Nicholas Cage mowing down Japanese soldiers and the occasional "you-saved-me-i-owe-you" scene between the Native Americans and the Americans.

The explosions were darn funny. *BOOM* and some Japanese guys go flying, and every time, they utter a high-pitched "WAAAAAAH!!!" This happened about a hundred times throughout the movie. Totally repetitive, I was so glad when it ended. The stupid naive look on Yahzee's (sp?) face got very annoying by the end of the movie.

I've watched a lot of movies this year, but this fine movie has the distinction of being the Worst Movie I've Watched So Far. John Woo should come back to Hong Kong. :)

LOL! Even in the previews, that look got annoying to me.

I haven't seen the movie because it looked dumb.....and now I won't even rent it.

Thanks for the heads up.....I'm sure I would have the exact same reactions.
