Can you guys give me some decent "fighting knife" recommendations?
-fixed blade
-3 no greater than 7 inch blade length
-spear , drop, or tanto point (a piercer to love on)
-preferably a back bevel but not necessarily extending the entire length of the would be spine
-under the 300 dollar price range
-nothing M Tech ;)
-Stainless would be nice but not necessary

Something Blackwater Ursa 6 esque would be nice. I am not interested in bushcraft or batoning suggestions. Thanks a ton for your recommendations.

For all my knife fighting needs I use an Esee 6 clip point :boxing:

How about a Bark River STS-5?

You trained in any specific type of knife-based SD/fighting? If so, get what you trained in.

If not...it doesn't really matter. They are all equally effective or ineffective depending on your point of view.

I'd say set of grocery store steak knives. Built to cut flesh and if you accidentally drop it in a sewer or river...no big deal.

And for the 99.999999% of time you re not knife fighting, you can cut a steak with it.

Or just get the knife that you think looks the coolest.

Or....you could get an actual knife made expressly for fighting, like a Fairbairn Sykes dagger.

Or, you can get the fighting knife that was favored by some motor cycling afficianados...the Shrade Sharpfinger.

Or, you can get the knife you find most useful, and just use that. It'll work as good as anything else.

Are you expecting to use it, or do you just want something that looks scary/cool?

I have the bushcraft Bark River knives and the like, I am interested in something a bit different than the usual batoner or outdoors knife. Now whether I'll make use of my mall ninja skills, that's another issue.

Get a Sanrenmu. Lots of people like to fight about those!!!

"Strider is TOTALLY worth every penny" vs "Strider is crap for the money". Now there's a knife fight for you!!!

Plus there's the whole "You know how you tell the loser from the winner in a knife fight? The loser dies on the sidewalk. The winner dies in the ambulance!" thing going for you.

All jokes and advice aside, most of what the custom makers call "fighters" these days are either renditions of the difficult to define "bowie", usually with a full flat grind or they go the Loveless route with or without a sub-hilt. Knives of the sort I presume you are looking for are generally termed "tactical" when commercial offerings. Think Becker BK-7.

If you can manage to handle another inch (That's what he said?) the Ontario SP-6 is a wicked fighter and is an excellent value.
