Here's a fighter that I just recently finished. The blade is 1095 steel just short of 9" X 1.1/4" X 1/4" . The guard is steel welded to the tang and soldered on the blade side. The handle is leather spaced high impact resin with an aluminum threaded pommell. The sheath is heavy harness leathers hand fitted and stitched. I have it on ebay now ( testing the waters again ).
PLease let me know what you think of it and what you think the value should be.
Thanks,
Mike

I'd have to get a closer look at the solder job to be able to tell you what I think of it. It looks like there is a lot of solder there, but maybe that is the look you were going for. I also think the guard looks a little blocky and out of proportion to the rest of the knife. I like the blade, handle and sheath.

That knife is hard for me to put a value on. I'd have to handle it to for sure. I don't think the photos are showing it to its best advantage.

i love the blade shape and handles i have seen on some of your blades the birch ( i think thats what it was ) one was real nice. I too think the gaurds should be streamed lined.
you should post pic of the 18 " fighting bowie, i missed tha one by 3 bucks:mad:

You captured the Randall style quite well with this one. The sheath is really cool.

Nice knife overall, looks sturdy and ready for war.

To be honest, I think the knife could use some more finish work.

Thanks for the help. Should the guard be narrowed in width or thickness ( future ones. This one's not getting changes) ?
I know my finish is much less than it can be. I prefer them like this.I think it makes it look more fitting for a fighter or any heavy use knife. I have shiney mirror finished knives ( that I bought for my own collection ) that I don't use, in fear of damaging the shine. I don't think my knives are collecter pieces. They're tools to be beaten and battered. I do think there is the potencial for someone to make one of mine into a showpiece but that's not what I'm after.
I want my knife to be the one that gets taken into the field without the owner fearing damage of any kind.
Mike

I really like the blockier guards, especially on a fighter style knife. I will keep an eye on your ebay sales (and have looked at past sales as well). I would love to see a rugged big Kukri with a guard and a point still acute enough for stabbing work.
