Fighting knives

If you can get your hands on a Gerber Yari, it's probably one of the better knives for the money (around $70-$80?), or try a CRKT Ryan Plan B, which costs less (under $50) and is a perfectly decent fixed blade for EDC.

I got it from New Graham.
WWW.NEWGRAHAM.COM is the addy.
My is S30V, so it was around $130.00 shipped.
You could find the previous version which is 154CM for less.
I have it in a Survival Sheath Single Shoulder Sheath Light.
WWW.SURVIVALSHEATH.COM is Robert's addy.

I also concur with the Gerber Yari sentiment.

The Columbia River Kasper Companion is suhweet too.

I am waiting for the Ka-Bar Impact Spear Point to give it a shot. I also like the CRKT Companion.

there are many types of "fighting" knives, ranging from big bowies to combat utility models to small kerambits and hideout knives. If you have a particular fighting style you are trained in, that will dictate the type of knife to choose. That said, two under-$100 knives that were developed for self-defense and which are easy to conceal are the Spyderco Perrin Street Bowie and the Spyderco Ronin.

For a mid-sized fixed blade the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn fighting knife or boot knife is a good choice.

The Yari, if available, gets my vote. It's fairly cheap for the materials and quality, and it's good in the hand.

One of the best small, concealable self-defense knives for under $100 is the Emerson LaGriffe neck knife. It is said to do damage far out of proportion to its small size. The problem is finding one. Internet dealers are reporting big problems in getting their hands on Emerson knives. Alot don't even advertise the LaGriffe.

The Greco Whisper is a pretty good medium size fighter. For a larger knife I think the standard Kabar would be a good choice. Another one to consider is the Cold Steel Recon Tanto, which usually sells for around $60.

For large bowie knives (around 10 inch blades) I think you will be limited to the some of the Ontario Spec Plus line for under $100, or the BK&T bowie. Most other knives in that size range cost over $100, unless you go with a surplus bayonet. I have a WWII Japanese bayonet with a blade of about 15 inches. It makes a nice short sword. I don't remember what I paid for it, but I think not over $40.

Thanks guys i will look into the knives. DO you guys know of any knives good foor filipino martial arts? thanks.

I would stay away from any double egded blades for SD. Get a training knife in this configutation and paint both sides with different colored lip stick and train a little. You will notice that you are being cut with your own knife often. Just my $.02

I have to agree on the Yari, there's just something about the way it feels and fits my hand. The concealex sheath is nice once you mate it with a Teklok, and the Micarta scales are well done. The CQB1 from Camillus also looks tempting to me. A little bigger, but also much more expensive. There is a cheaper model CQB but the sheath won't cut it and the steel isn't as good. Check out the Yari.

I hate to repeat what other have said, but the Gerber Yari IS an excellent knife!...(154CM steel, canvas micarta scales, full tang...). There is also the Spyderco Temperance to take a look at.

In a folder, the Spyderco Endura (or Police model) is a good choice, and the Al Mar SERE 2000 is an excellent choice.

...And although I might get kicked-around for this suggestion, the S&W HRTDR is an excellent "fighter" for under $100.
