Fighting the HIKV...

Well, hmmm. I have been looking at the FAQ pages, old posts, and the HI site. I think that I am already getting ichy for a new kukhri. Which one should I drool over until uncle Bill ges back? I was thinking about the gangaola, or maybe the gang ram. I am trying to find a good knife to carry in my shoulder bag or under the seat of my truck.

Whatever you choose Matt, you might want to wait until uncle clears up the green horn problem, or go with wood handle. I've been reading post after post from guys with cracked handles---its all I can do to stop myself from standing over my horn-handled khuks and watching them to see if they're ok

. Seriously though, a 20" sirupati with a wood handle would be a great Khuk, IMHO. What do you think?
 
I have a 20" sirupati. It was my first HI kukri. It does have the horn handle epedemic, but I am dealing with it. I was looking for something a little... Different. I do not know what that means yet. Uncle Bill kept forgeting to send me a catalog so I have to depend on the kindess and wisdom of my fellow forumites to help out.

Anything over 20" will not fit in my bag.

Bill sent me a dozen polaroids 5 years ago and Yvsa and I still haven't been able to sweet talk them into a khanjarli. Or a patang like Sonam's dad had.

Besides, looking at them in a catalog wouldn't be a substitute for forumites comments. Once you get past the fact these khukuris have soul to them, you need to figure out which kind of soul.

It is like being asked whether you prefer blondes, brunettes, redheads, or raven tressed beauties. The only possible answer is YES!!!

I am in no way denieing that yes is the only answer. I just can't get them all at once because then what would i do?

If you want to ease the pain, a new khukuri is the only medicine. If you want to fight HIKV itself, I'll help you to get rid of the HIKV contaminated metals by emailing you my address.
To me the size of my bag is a problem when I take out my 20" Ang Khola. A smaller khukuri will work, but something like a carrying bag of HI, by HI, for HI, sounds nice also. Still no drawings in my mind yet, it should keep several khukuris safe inside, allows quick drawing from inside. Oh, I forgot mentioning HI logo on it!
Rusty, though black, long, straight and shiny hair is also very welcome to me, my answer is the same.
Mat, then...have a lot of fun!
