Just got this Fight'n Rooster 3 1/2" Eureka Jack in Stag.
New (old stock?) w/great action, no rubs, great stag (if not perfectly matched), overall I am really impressed with the F&F. There is a pitted spot on the main blade, but it doesn't look like it has been cleaned, more like it left the factory that way.

I kind of stumbled onto it on the auction site with only about an hour to go and didn't have time to research it at all. Kind of a "what the heck" purchase. I really know nothing about the brand so if anybody wants to add any basic info, like when it may have been made, that would be cool. It has a 4 line tang stamp:
Frank Buster
Celebrated
Cutlery
Germany

Now I just need to decide if it's for looking at or using.

Just cruddy cellphone pics for now:

I just sold a Fight'n Rooster knife and from what I recall reading, the knives were made in the Olbertz factory in Germany. According to one source, the Frank Buster celebrated tang stamp dates the knife from '82-94. The knife was probably collected rather than old stock but the two seem to mean the same thing on eBay. The Eureka Jack is an interesting pattern and that example has some very nice looking stag.

Stu, Looks nice buddy! I like that pattern and
that stag looks good! Congrats!

Fight'n Rooster is one of the brands i actually try to collect. Many of the other brands just seem to end up coming over to my house on their own.
"Fight'n Rooster Knives, Yesterday --- Today --- Tommorrow" by Jim Parker, 1994 is the best reference.
This one is called: "2 Blade Jack Dogleg Style" 3 1/2 inches. All Celebrated mark. Pg. 170 D. Genuine Stag Black Etch 1 of 100 value $90.
I have "G" which is the same except mine has an etch "Fame & Fortune"
"Frank Buster Celebrated Cutlery" was the stamping used from 1982-94.
But Beware !! lately new F'nR knives are showing up with the "Celebrated" stamping. Frank Buster died about 2-3 years ago and his son Stirling has taken over and is having knives made now and using the old "Celebrated" die stamp. Most sellers if you ask them play dumb, but a few will admit that these knives are current production.
I have about 175 "Roosters". Most are very nice knives. Prices now are nearly double what they were when i began collecting them 4 years ago. One of my favorites is a 2 blade Barlow with an etch "Country Gentleman", so called first gen., 1977-82, marked "Frank Buster Cutlery Company"

Thanks for the dating info Jake, and Roland for additional info as well.
I mainly jumped on this one for the "Eureka" shape. Just don't see many out there.
For the time being I am just going to admire it while I decide weather to keep it "forever" or not.

Any pictures of your "G" version Roland?

Yes, i posted it somewhere in BF but i can't recall which forum. I'll search when i have time.

Generally speaking the older Roosters are pretty good property. Of particular interest are the "Captain's Roosters" and ones marked only "Fight'n Rooster" on the blades. It's best to avoid the club knives as far as collectability goes.

Pay little mind to "Prototypes" and serial numbers. Frank regularly used the same number as necessary:D
