Today I went to my parents house for a visit & Dad & me sat on the porch & Drank Coffee & talked about building traps so... I got my Favorite Woods knife out of the truck & away we went !
Breeden PathFinder & Vict. SAK Hiker were the tools of the day & this is my Figure 4 I made -

The Practice knives are actually real knives (Frost Cutlery) That I took out to the garage & rounded all sharp edges & point off w/ my bench grinder so now they still look like a knife & feel like a knife but are more like a big filler guage ;) I told the twins when they showed me they could keep up with them & show me how safe they were with them then we would talk about a real blade & thats been about 1 month ago & so far so good

man every time I see that pathfinder, I want one, hows the shape of the handle work out with it angled back like that, for some reason it appeals to me!!!!!!

This design is Very Comfortable to use  Probably the most comfortable - In The Hand - knife I've handled ;)

Cool figure 4. My favorite type of trap (besides snares, if you count 'em) and I am still not very good with them. Thanks for sharing

Today, I decided to learn how to make a Figure 4. Googled it up, grabbed my tools, and went to the back to find some sticks. All told, it was about 15 minutes from beginning to end of project. I sped up the process by using a Gerber saw to start the notches.

Later, I'm going to bait it up with some Twinkies and stick it in the front yard. :p

Thanks Dad...Your the Best

Cherish every moment with him and your kids. I lost my dad and outdoor mentor in January 09. Man I miss those times just sitting having coffee with him and picking his brain.

Nice, good stuff CoalDigger (and Guyon)!. I remember the first time I made a figure 4, I was so proud. I need to practice more with em, might do that this weekend...see if I can catch the rat running around my neighbors place...:D

Thanks guy's....My dad just had one of his hips replaced last week & is stuck in the house for a while:( It's about to drive him crazy ! As far as the Surgery, he did great & is getting around really good ! At first (before the surgery) they told him he would need a hospital bed & walker & physical therapy....after Surgery & a couple of days in the hospital, he only came home on a cane  & is walking around inside the house pretty good !
He is one tough 'Ol Goat :D
