Before I start posting pics of the figure four I'll post a few more random pics.

A small stream that turns into a small waterfall,

My PSK and two fixed blades, the water bottle and first aid kit came in handy. I managed to get some blisters from some aggressive jimping and as soon as the skin ripped open I had the FAK with me.

Turned over a big rock to see what was under it before I used it as the dead weight, I was quite pleased with what I found. 1 good size insect, 1 centipede, and salamander all under the same rock.

(Next post will show the figure four trap ;) )

I found a walking stick and used it up till I got to a level spot and decided to build the trap there. Then I used it to make the trap.

nice! looks like a ton of fun, and good job on that figure-4. i've still got to work on my trap-making skills...

Nice trap, and you can post pics.good work!

RAT PACK #91

:D well I went through heck to get these up, finally got a camera, went up spent about an hour an a half in the woods, went to take a picture of the trap and batteries were dead, hiked out charged the battery and went back to the trap, took some pics went to upload them and it took 3 hours to upload 16 pics to photobucket.

great pics and nice trap! I love reading posts like this.

I've made a figure 4 a few times now and it certainly is MUCH harder than it looks to get it up and going - at least for me :D Again, nice work!

What knife is that next to your Izula?

+1  much harder than you'd think until you try it.

The knife is a Horton EDC, I was lucky enough to just recently win the first one he made.

I thought it might be a horton (nice snag!!!) but havent seen an EDC with coated blade (or at least it looks coated to me) - the lines on his blades are pretty sweet looking and distinct. Gorgeous knife - izula aint bad either ;):D

Thanks for the quick response

I loved the look of the knife and thought about saving up to buy one, :D oh well life throws you curve balls and sometimes it's one in your favor. Also I don't believe it's coated.

Great pics! that salamander you found is actually a newt. I believe if you looked at its belly it would have been red, the infamous firebelly newt!

Nice stream - looks like a great hike. Thanks for the second trap - the trigger looks pretty easy like you said. does it trip pretty easily? thanks!

Looks like a great day brother..awesom First Fig. 4
I recently made a few vids on the fig,4 the first is just a gen overview,
the other 2 where shot indoors and deal primarily with ways to make it more efficient as a game getter, (I've had allot of success with deadfalls over the past few years..) I don't know that there will be any new info in there for anyone..But they where fun to shoot.

again Nice first deadfall... Keep at it.

Jeff C. great paiute deadfall...One of my favs.
