I know that a lot of people say that the BK9 isn't for fine carving but today I decided to take my youngest boys (ages 2 and 6) out to teach them some primitive trapping techniques. I decided to take the BK9 to see how it performed. It carves like a much smaller knife. The jimping on the spine gave an amazing amount of control. The sticks used were pinkie and less than thumb size and I had no problem carving out the different grooves for the trap. Another recommendation for the 9. By the way, yes that is styrofoam. We have two very curious cats and I didn't want them to end up with sever migraines while I was teaching the boys...lol

Thank you! They are always in the woods with me, I feel the younger generation is missing out on a lot of the stuff we took for granted.

I love how the 9 handles fine carving. Awesome job getting those kids out, as well. Btw, nice fig4.

moose forgets to point out the staining is from blood

he won't say where the blood is from though

DOC freely admits it's blood from yankee pig dogs... i mean rats. i mean beavers. yah!

though, all of this is what you call in the 21 century, is uh, "photo chop"... fake. yes. BK9 is too manly for delicate tasks... please to buy "boosee' for that. yes. nods.

please continue your 22nd century dogma infarction training fellow bacon canines

all hail hydra

One of the main things I like about my bk 9 is how "small" it handles for a big knife. I can do just about everything I can with my mora with the bk9, as long as the increased chord height isn't a problem for the notches I'm making.

A truely remarkable blade.

And glad you like yours too :).

Thank you!
And you guys are awesome!! You have inspired me. Since spring is almost here it is time to start making some fly traps. Had to switch to the BK2 for this one, I was choking up too much on the 9.

You all are exactly right the 9 handles like a knife much smaller than it is. I think it and the BK2 are two of the best all around knives I have ever found!

Thank you!

I say this beats the toothpick fig4 hands down... Do I have a second???

It only took a couple of minutes to carve it, but it took about a half an hour to actually set it up...lol
