i recently came into some fine double bits as well, pictures shortly as i can... an old pattern Gransfors Bruks, and a Sager Chemical, and the never fails Collins Legitimus...

finding spare handles for those ... difficult. 68x18mm eyes. might have to make my own.

okay, i should go sharpen my pantry axe now :D

a little GB action

this thing does a bang up job on even old oak, but blow giant chips out of pine and such. it's pretty amazing

Very nice. That GB double bit looks like a nice chopper. How long of a handle do you have on it?

Bladite, Tell me about them axes in you first picture. They are not from around here and I don't know what to make of them.

it was a random selection of axe heads with bad handles offered by SportsmansGuide some years ago, for cheap money. nominally swiss, they were described as "jeep/truck/trail axes", that had chopped down handles. when i ordered, i asked how many kinds they had, and they said "4-5 ish" so i asked for 3 different ones.

not sure about the makers marks, but the are veddy interesting. eye pattern seems to fit that of a hultfors bruk or husqvarna nicely. which means someday i can source handles for them.

I recently fixed up a GB just like that one for a friend. Those at the top are interesting - they almost look poll heavy until you showed the profile. Pretty wedgy. Do you guys suppose the really long tongues on the handles were made that way so that the head could be repeatedly rehung on the same handle over time?
