i mentioned in my earlier thread about my impusle buying the junglas without a sheath. i did pick up a sheet of kydex while at that gunshow. so here is my solution. took about 30 mins and roughly $5 in supplies. turned out better than i expected it to. overall very satisfied with results. thinking about getting the molle backing for the 5&6 and adding that but for now it fits my pack just right like it is so i may leave it alone until i can get a better pack and see if i need to change it.

atleast now i feel comfortable being able to safely carry it.

That turned out darned good!

What did you use to heat up the Kydex?

The first one I tried I used a blowtorch, turned out looking like a red kydex marshmellow, bording on charcoal...

we tried a heat gun like we have used on smaller sheaths but that didnt work out. so we put it in a toaster oven and it did the trick. not a pro by any means but i like it better than the $50-65 alternative.

i would get the anvil/punch combo to set them. its $6 or $7 but worth it if you do not have it.

That is nice Ive been looking into making my own sheaths also can't stand the $55 price tag.
I have some molle backs from blade tech that came with a esee 4 sheath and I don't want them
If you do contact me.

Man that looks excellent. I've done a few kydex attemps, none of them turning out how I'd like.

thanks for the offer. i have two sets that were left over from hest and 5.

That looks awesome!

FWIW, you could also look into Mexpedition-type pouches or things on such a long scabbard/sheath.
