I'm seeking a nice fillet knive for my Dad's birthday. I usually use my Shrade, but I wondered if there were something a little better for a gift of this magnitude.

Check out the Bark River Canadian Sportsman and Canadian Sportsman II at DLT Trading and at Knives Ship Free!

Butch(butcher_block) recommended a maker yesterday. He seemed to specialize in mostly filet knives.Very nice work.I didn't bookmark the site though.Maybe you could PM him?

It was in the thread about CPM10V if that helps any.

If you do not want to go custom made,I'd say a Grohmann knives, with a rosewood handle is a nice one

Depending on budget:

Grohmann (great value for the money)
A Murray St. Amour custom - very reasonably priced
