File for Rockwell Test

Can anyone help me on what kind of file to use for testing the edge for its Rockwell hardness?

A fine, medium or bastard file?

A file is not used for the test. This is'nt something that's done at home.

Industrial/machine shop supply places sell sets of files that will give you a rough indication (2 points) of Rockwell C hardness. A set of 6 files covers HRC 40 to HRC 66 and will set you back around $90. I've never used them, but next time I see them on sale I plan on grabbing a set, cheaper than a real Rockwell type hardness tester and fine for most of my needs.

Does anyone know how to check for harness using a file and what the approximate hardness is?
