Hello. First post. I was wondering if anyone here has used Boggs lately to resharpen files? Is it worth it? I have several files I would like to send off. Has anyone had any issues with this company lately? Thanks for any input.

You can do it yourself with vinegar and a brass brush. It's nothing but chemical sharpening. Bunch of videos on YouTube.

Has anyone tried it successfully? I tried dipping in FerricC and didn't notice that the file was sharper. Maybe the solution should be heated? I have used salts to sharpen tungsten for welding so I understand the concept but it hasn't worked well for me.

That kind of worked for one file I have. But I have several USA Nicholson files of different cuts and a Gorbet USA mill bastard along with some others. I do have newer Pferd files, only two, but at $50 dollars a file. I was wondering if Boggs has a good track record. I’ve looked at their website and saw the prices. I would just like to know if anyone has personal experiance.

Boggs is very popular amongst the hand tool woodworking crowd for rasps and files. They have a good reputation.

I sent Boggs three fine tooth Nicholson files that I bought as NOS forty years ago. Came back looking and cutting like new.
