I see some beautiful file work on these forums. I especially like the designs in carved into the spine of the folders. What file set do you guys recomend? Also, what is the best file for cutting SAK/Beck style sawteeth?

Thanks

I don't know about saw teeth but you can get cheap needle file sets as places like Harbor Freight and flea markets. You can get good quality sets from the knife supply houses. A lot of people use chain saw sharpening files, etc. I often use cheap diamond bits from HF ($3 on sale) in my dremel, which work just fine.

My old mate Lloyd Harding (deceased)used a rod saw in a modified hack saw frame. If the rod broke he slid the frame along to the shorter length.

It works well for ropework on big bowies and cultasses. He would finish with needle files and sand paper of the rounded edges of wood shims.

To stop the rod slipping you can use a wood rest until the groove starts.
