Hi Guys
Most good files are W-1 or W-2, water hardening steels. Cheap files often only case hardened mild steel. Picked up 5 old 12 inch files at local market this morning, looking to make into something.

Now this is a GOOD post. I have been wondering about knives made from worn-out files. Thanks, Shaft, for the topic.

BTW Fullplate. I have a hometown friend and college roomate who moved to Aukland and became an NZ citizen. He loves it there.

Auckland is a pretty nice place to live, not without the usual big-city problems.Traffic, people, noise etc. I actually originate from the south of the South Island, a small city called Invercargill.
