I gave Taylor Cutlery a chance to explain why they had an American flag on the packaging of their Chinese produced product but they never did. I received one reply from them which I posted in an earlier thread that never did explain my original concern. I noticed the new Schrades are coming in, many look identical to the original Old Timers. All the boxes have the American Flag in the bottom right corner with no country of origin close to it.
Sickening.
Hopefully the FTC will be able to do something about it.

Good for you Phil. No TC Scrades for me, not even if they we're given to me. :barf:

I believe Taylor has gotten around this by using Colonial or Camillus to at least assemble here in this country. He will not break the law he will circumvent it. He is a business man. Not that it means anything I just choose not to do business with him or his way. Nice try but, you are I fear beating a dead horse. LT

Depends if the box states "made in China" somewhere on it. If it is marked with "USA" or no country of origin then the FTC will definitely be taking care of it. Stanley tried to have unfinished tools imported to the US to be finished. They thought they could put "made in US" on the tool since it was finished here. The FTC told them to forget it and made them change. This is why the Husky line of tools sold at Home Depot changed from US made to Taiwan. They never qualified to be labeled US made to begin with but Stanley labeled them that way hoping to compete against the Craftsman line.
If the box is labeled "China" then they are still on shaky ground. The FTC has made it clear that the American Flag or other symbol of a US made product in conjuction with a country of origin being to small to read normally is a violation. If Taylor has marked it clearly then it will be up to the FTC's judgement. Even if Taylor squeaks by the law at least my complaint will hopefully put it on the radar of the FTC.
In the mean time I would suggest anyone who doesn't like their representation of the American flag would refrain from buying their product. It it also helpful to pass the word along to friends and anyone interested regarding Taylor's practice.
If Taylor Cutlery wants to produce a product elsewhere that's fine, they bought the legal rights to do so. They cross the line, in my opinion, when they misrepresent a product such as they are doing.
Every person can make a difference.

Funny thing about a dead horse. My grandfather who was cherokee ( Northern Mountain ) used to say the worth of an animal was dependent upon the owner and that any indian worth his salt could take a horse left for dead by a white man get him on his feet ride him for 20 miles ( till he got home ) and then feed his family for a week, so who knows perhapes you can make a difference. I sure wish you luck. I was once told that the only radio response (when in battle that really needed to be said was, no matter how bad your report might be on the situation was the final line ) "WE CAN STILL FIGHT SIR." Once again Good Luck LT
