looking at my MSC Direct catalog, i notice there's a big difference in price between nicholson files and their "production grade imports"...i know nicholsons are good, but does anyone have any experience with the imports from MSC? they're 30-40% cheaper and i need a bunch...could be a huge savings, IF they're comparable to the nicholsons...

thanks...

In my experience, Nicholsons are terrific files at a reasonable price. MSC shouldn't be charging an arm and a leg for them. McMaster-Carr has pretty decent files too, and they sell Swiss files (my favorite) too!

Frankly, since Brookstone decided to shaft the honest tool-worshipping craftsman, and get stupid with their merchandising (sorry, minor rant), I have never seen any decent files except Nicholson and Swiss-made files.

My advice is just buy a few good Nicholson files and add some really good handles, and take care of them. They will last you for years.
