filework heat treat

good day
i want to do some filework on cable damascus folder i'm working on . should i heat treat the blade before or after the file work i plan to heat treat in my forge.

Dave; I do my filework before. Some people will do it after and use a Dremel and stones too. I like to bead blast the file work after heat treat.
How are you and the little lady doing???
