what kinds of files are necessary for filework? will jewelers files suffice? another thread said chainsaw files will work. I have gathered I would need a round and triangular file, any specific size? rubber dremel wheel, and sandpaper for polishing.

is there anything else I need to know? I am going to check out the link posted on the other thread.

after some practice, I want to filework a spyderco police :)

I found a good muti-axis vise handy when I gave filework a try. That, and soft, metal protecting jaw covers, of course.

I used a hacksaw, with good blades, to start the areas to be filed.

A nice 20x checkering file,1/8 inch chainsaw, 6 inch triangle, and about any odd shaped that suits your fancey. If you can't find the right shape for what you want don't be afraid to modify existing patterns to get where you want. Several I have seen grind half rounds down to get that sharp edge for some patterns. There is even a dvd oyut now that shows how to do different pattersn. TkN has a couple ot tutorials in their workshop to give you an idea. Mike
