Hi Rene
I have the Sheffield catalog and I thought the one they offer for that price was only for small blades,(like 5/32) does anyone have this jig?

Dan, if you search back several months ago, I made one and so did Indian George. Mine cost about $0.10 for a couple of bolts, O expect IG traded some Relish for his bolts! :D

I've got the one from Sheffields and it works for me on anything short of a axe. Just be carefull not to loose the guid pins

It's not hard to make one eigther.

Yep, But the bolts were 3/8" I had to soak them in my relish overnite to get them to 1/4"

Hey IG... what else did you soak in your relish to make smaller? :D :D :D

IG takes the ribbing hard,

Don't fret about IG, he invented revenge! If you start a wee wee war with him, get ready for a bath!

Dam,
IG takes the ribbing hard, What the heck is in that relish?? Brimstone?
I never get mad, but I do get even over and over again. :grumpy:  :D :D My relish has made grow men cry. Almost killed one poor old knifemaker at a NCCA knife show. I was giving out free samples on a toothpick at the Club (NECKA) table. HEHEHE!!!

I use the one from Sheffield's and it works fine on any thickness blade I've made - up to 1/4" I guess. Be careful not to over tighten on narrow blades, it'll break. I broke the first one I used...

One thing about guides, most are not all that hard and the faces will wear after a while. This one's cheap enough to replace it fairly often, which I'm about to do again.

I've thought about reheat treating the next one to ensure it's as hard as I want it to be. Just have to be extra careful not to break another one. ;)

The one from Uncle Al is worth the money! :)

Dave, just think, your third cheapy @ $20, you could almost have had Al's ;)
