Hi folks,

During private conversations, my teacher, Guro Ray Dionaldo (Filipino Combat Systems/Sayoc Kali) has in more than one occasion manifested interest in having someone make live blade versions of our training knives. I thought some of the makers here might be interested in taking part in this project, which would certainly yield interesting results, given Guro Ray's knowledge in the field of edged weapons (among other things, he has designed the blades utilized by the Sayoc Kali family).
The training knives in question can be seen here.

Regards,

Leo

Leo, if I clicked on the right link, most of those knives are already being made. The first two are almost exact replicas of John Ek knives. The Khukuri is a copy of the Cold Steel model. The third one down, looks like a generic throwing knife.
Not trying to be a wise guy here, it's just what I see.:)

Hi Mike,

The way I understand it, Guro Ray would like someone to make live steel versions of the training knives we use for himself and his group of students. I didn't mean to say they're revolutionary creations or something - sorry if it sounded that way.:)
True, the aluminum trainers resemble some well-known designs, but I'm sure he'd come up with his own specifications that would make the final pieces different.
