Hi Folks,

Here's my version of a Filipino sword. The 16.5" blade is 1084, honed to razor sharpness. The OAL is around 24". The handle is carved walnut, and the scabbord will be walnut as well. I really like this design. Not only is it a superb chopper, but it's very stabby as well. All comments welcome.

Nicely done, you really captured the essence. Can't wait to see the scabbard....

That is wild. I love the handle.

Thanks Mack, I think it's pretty cool as well. Ever since I saw pictures of some of the Filipino blades, I've wanted to make one. This won't be my last one by a long shot. If you could swing it a few times, try some cutting with it, you'd fall in love with it.

Oh my!

That looks very sharp! I love the handle design. The wood selection and the blade are gorgeous as is the craftsmanship.

Thanks Machine, yes, it's razor sharp or at least so sharp it will deeply slice your finger when you test the edge, as a lot of guys just seem to do. I haven't had a chance to start on the walnut scabbord, but I'm really looking forward to doing so. I'll repost when the whole package is done.

Oh God I came back to look again...curse that Dave Stifle guy! Why can't you be just another talentless forum troll instead of "Das Werks" extraordinaire? Dammit...
