Fill in Ocelot paw prints?

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but it might be cool to fill in the paw prints on the handle of the ocelot knife by Spyderco. That way dirt and other crud wouldn't get in there. What reccomendations do you have for a material that could be used for filler? Could be clear. I think red paw prints would look nice. Maybe some kind of epoxy or bondo?

Thought about same thing. If I do it, I will use a clear two-part epoxy. In the past, I have used this to fill-in divots where I removed kraton inserts. Just add in a lttle extra hardner and apply with a toothpick. The epoxy will "flow" out evenly.

Yeah I was thinking something like that. Theres this stuff called geocel for caulking which is real tough.

I was all ready to fill my Ocelot's paw prints in with glow powder mixed with epoxy so they would glow in the dark. Then the wife took my Ocelot to hide it from me. She thinks its too cute to mess with so she confiscated it. Now she is carrying it so I won't 'mess it up'.

Chip inlay would work -- mix powdered gemstone with jewelry-grade clear epoxy. You can crush semi-precious stone with pliers -- wear safety glasses! Tigereye looks pretty cool. Get your epoxy at a rock shop. Ordinary epoxy isn't very clear even to start with and turns yellow with age. Jewelry epoxy is as clear as gin and stays that way.

I gave up on the filling idea. I need one more 1/8" pin to complete this green canvas micarta conversion so as soon as I get that and some extras in the mail from knifekits I'll have it finished. Still need to drill out the lanyard too.

It was a simple matter of redrilling the pin holes for the pins to fit. (you can see the pins I'm using to the left of the lock bar in the break down.) I did the drilling with a carbide because the liners seemed pretty hard. A cobalt would probably have worked though. The lock bar was soft enough to do with a regular drill bit I think.

I'm glad I did this because there was dried blood under the old G10 scales in several spots on my knife that couldn't be reached to get out with cleaning. I scrubbed the tar out of it too. I am not drilling out the tip down holes since I won't need it that way anyhow. I figure it is just another lint and build up of gunk spot if I do and don't plug them.

Go to a hobby shop. Get medium or thick CA and a wicking spout (long thin thing). Carefully put a drop in eash paw print.

or

I'll trade you for a Delica 4 without any paw prints. PM me if interested.
