Thanks to a fellow forumite, or forumites, I was finally able to fill my inside straight!

Last year I was able to finally score a Basics 5, to fill the gap I had in the series, that finally gave me a 3, 5, 7, and 9, BINGO.

Until it was pointed out to me, that there were some subtle but distinct differences between the smooth and crinkle coat versions. Crap, the quest goes on.

They were selling too high on the auction site, and by the time I'd see them posted in the exchange, they'd be gone. I wasn't trying real hard.

Thanks to a Hog who had some extras on his quest to collect a set, a Basics 5 showed up today. I figured it was coming today, so I planned to be in Boulder around the time the mailman usually comes. I got hung up, and got to my neighborhood just as he was headed towards his truck. I rode up in the yard jumped off the bike and ran up to the mailbox, pulled all the mail out, grabbed the notice, and went screaming down the street after the mailman waving my arms and pink paper thingy, he saw me as he was pulling out, stopped, and I got my box ! So yeah my knife showed up today.
Talk about running down the mailman for INFI fix ! (M-INFI)

Here's my current pile of Basics, got a user in each size, and some safe queens for the B-3 users.

They're all Crinkle coat on top

With pants, I found out many of the sheaths, some of the kydex, and Dwayne's B-7 will only fit one coating, don't mix em up !

Man someone really likes the Basic Series :) That is a great collection

awesome scores. You and Tony will be the Basics Kings. But you need to try and score the even sizes if possible.

OOOHhhhhh I do like that smooth coating! Its so CLASSIC BUSSE!

Now you need to collect the origional drop sheaths for them to really make the set! :)

Thats a nice Bacsic set Jimmy! Nice sheaths as well:thumbup:

Thanks for the pics!

Cool,

A great bunch of knives you have there.

Do you have a set that you use?

I keep a Virgin set of the Crinkle coats, a #3 a#5 and a #9 to use and to loan out, the rest I buy to give away, they make Great Gifts.

The Prices are starting to rise a bit, just a year or so ago you could still find Basic #9s in the for sale foum here for $200.00 and #3s for $100.00, the #7s and #5s have been about $250.00 for several years.

Easily the most underpriced Busse knives.

Some where out there there are a few Factory Satin blades, a #3 and a #7 with Factory serrations, and several knives with Factory "Penetrator" Tips.

And at least one Basic #7 that was a Factory Recurve.

The Basic #7 with the High Desert Lowride with the Green leg tie was the Sheath Prototype for that Sheath System for Basics.

Not a set of users, the crinkle 3 and smooth 7 have seen the most use by me, just got a user 9 (smooth) so I think that one will pick up some usage.

I originally got the 7, (I think it came with a sheath like the one you described, I'll check tonight) and a Leatherman sheath to live in my saddle bag.

Tangs, Micarta, and kydex sheaths all wear holes and tear stuff up in the saddlebag with all the vibration and shaking. I'd kept a Buck Nighthawk in there, rubber handle, nylon sheath, not much collateral damage, so I figured something from the Basics series would work well.

The 9 with the leather sheath seems pretty benign in the saddle bag so far, so I think it'll be a permanent addition.

HOLY CHIT ON A SHINGLE!!!! I am really envious, that is an outstanding group. I have had them all at one point or another, but have settled with 9 and 3 as "keepers". I let the 9 go once...and it came right back, I guess it was true love.

Nice collection! The B7 is my favorite of the resiprene models ever to come out of Wauseon:D
