Anybody know where I can get a top quality fillet blade with a hidden tang? I want to make a gift for my father-in-law with sheds we found when fishing farm ponds. I need a finished blade as I only want to make the handle. So far all I have been able to find are full tang blades. He will primarily use it for Crappie and some Bass and Walleye. Thanks!

There are some of what you are looking for here

By the way, welcome to the forums.

Try www.ragweedforge.com He has two different ones. I plan to buy the 'Helle' fillet blade to make a knife for my father for christmas next year. I have purchased 3 or 4 other Helle blades and have been impressed with the quality. Ragnar's service is excellent also.

Oops. Well now I see that Ripper's link points to Ragnar's page also. Well count mine a recommendation then...

Thanks for the help and the welcome.

I have had good experience with the Helle blades also. I used a Harding and Veidemann (spell?) blade for a couple hunting knives. The supplier I bought them from is great to do business with except he doesnt have any of the Steinbit fillet blades. Found Ragnar's site today and ordered one. The Hellefisk fillet blade looks like it might be to much blade for Crappie.

I have bought my Helle blades from a guy name Bob Mcmahan. He is out of Oregon. Great guy to do business with. I screwed up the nickel guard that came with the Harding blade. Asked him if he would sell me another guard. He sent me the guard, a brass nut, and some elk hide (for spacers), no charge. I am going to pay him back for the shipping cost when I order another knife from him. I am sure Ragnar is great to do business with also. I guess I will find out since I just ordered the Steinbit fillet blade and some curly birch from him. Ragnar does have more on his site. Bob just carries helle knives and some blades, but I think he is going to add some more stuff. If you want to check out Bob's site it is: http://www.helleknife.com/index.html
