I just 'stabilized' a couple more antlers. I must say the process yields excellent results. I just love how they come out.
I use paraloid b72 (http://www.woodfinishingsupplies.com/Conservation.htm)
and acetone. Put it in a canning jar. Use the old food vac. And re-draw the vacuum a few times over 2 days.
When I take it out I wipe it off with an acetone rag, so the surface stays natural.
You can drill, polish, ... heck you can even expose the core and it stays hard and polishes well.
Just thought I'd pass that along.
