Filling Griptilians hollow handles?

This thought had crossed my mind previously, but I just saw a picture of a full size Grip stripped down and the idea reoccured.

People comment about the hollow, cheap feel of these handles pretty regularly. The inner handle has something of a boxy honey-comb and I wonder if filling those spaces with super-glue, or eppoxy, or JB-Weld, or something of the like would result in a more solid, less cheap feeling handle. -Any thoughts?

Funny enough, I was thinking the same thing when handling my Griptillian I keep as a beater knife, though I honestly don't mind the plasticky feel. I associate plastic handles with working knives and beaters, so there is a sense of security there.

I would like to hear how it turns out for somebody. I like plastic handles in general also - don't mind that they do not feel as nice as well-done G-10...even liked the integral plastic clips of the old Spydies and CS Voyagers.

I personally wouldn't bother, much better to carry a lighter knife.

There are always the Wilkins grips for people who want more.

If you're going to void your warranty by modifying the scales, just go all-out and get some G-10 scales custom made for your Grip. :)

I agree, but I do sympathize and wish they could fix this! It makes a blue class knife feel very cheap. Oddly enough the mini-grip does not have this problem

Epoxy has been used a good bit for that. It doesn't affect the feel as much as it changes the sound of the knife opening and closing without adding a lot of weight. Other substances can be used as well, but some of them will add a bit of weight to the knife and change the balance.

Doesn't seem like it would make much difference, if any. Fill your plastic handles full of epoxy and they'll probably still feel exactly like plastic handles.

That is because the mini-Grip has full sized liners, and the large Grip has partial liners.
