So i am constantly looking for a knife that has large enough handle for me yet has a blade that wont raise any eyebrows. Recently i came across the emerson snubby...anybody have any experience with this knife? Can you guys point me to any other knives that fill a large hand, handle around 4 in long, yet has that sheeple friendly blade?

Thanks

One suggestion I would make would be to check out the Kershaw Junk Yard Dog II. In my opinion, if you want a larger knife with a big handle, this is the one to go with. This will fill a large hand quite adequately, and it does not have the look of a "tactical" folder.

The gray G10 that it uses is rather unique, with hardly anybody else using it right now, and the blade shape is not as pointy or "scary" looking as a lot of other knives out there. The handle is one of the more comfortable ones I've come across during my journey as a knife knut.

Hope this helps.

I really think there is no such thing as a "sheeple friendly" blade...

With that said, you should check out the Spyderco Para Military. Full sized handle + 3 inch blade.

I am constantly looking for knives similar to what you seek.

So far the only one I really like is the DoDo. The Yojimbo looks good on paper but doesn't perform for me as a lefty and is a little large.

The CQC-14 also looks promising but I am saving for a proper tap to redrill the knife for Left-handed clip placement.

I am also looking for a Lava for the pure ergonomics but the steel handle puts me off.

After spending a few years in this hobby I am of the opinion that most hobbyists are too obsessed with getting the most blade into the least handle and as such "little big knives" are much too hard to come by. I want the most handle with the least (<3") blade. I have come to the conclusion that I should just shorten my blades myself, I have a dremel and am building the knowledge base and practicing to chop and shorten some of my blades.

Gotta disagree here. Been EDCing a JYD2 for several months now and can't say enough good things about it -- IMO a vastly superior knife to an Emerson. But it does seem to have a tactical look that really grabs people's attention ... I've never had another knife that gets such wide-eyed "Wow!" and "Yo!" exclamations all the time. Not a problem for me, but it's not very discreet or subtle.

Yojimbo? The Dodo and Para-Military are also nice... How about the BM Osbourne Switchback? Boker Subcom?

I too, like the idea of a small blade in a large handle, and so the Para-Military suits me very well. The blade is not small enough to avoid scaring NKP though, but I'm sure my Endura or Manix would garner a lot more attention.

How about pairing up your folder with an Alox SAK like the Soldier? Big enough for a full grip and too pretty to get scared of for most people.

Kershaw Leek might not be a bad choice either. Or Spyderco Native or Caly jr.
