I just picked one up about a week ago, and it hasn't left me head since. Well, that's not exactly true-- I do take it off to sleep :) This thing is super tough, and surprisingly comfortable, though the oil finish takes a bit of getting used to. I've worn it in moderate to heavy rains for several hours at a time without getting a drop of rain on my head. My only problem with the hat is that the oil finish cloth doesn't seem to be very breathable, although the breathability did improve somewhat after I wore the hat for a few days-- maybe it just needs to break in a bit. Anyway, if you are looking for a tough, comfortable, highly water/wind resistant hat that also looks nice, you should check out Filson. It's definitely my favorite winter hat, and may even replace my faithful boonie hat for summer wear. Now I just need to convince my wife that I need a nice tin cloth outfitter coat to go with the hat...

I was thinking about getting the 'bush' version with the wider brim.

Wouldn't mind hearing the pro's & con's or preferences of others on this.

I have the shelter cloth packer hat. It's the only hat I've liked enough to buy a 2nd one as a replacement for the first. I got caught in a hellish downpour (while riding in the back of a pickup up a long, curvy mountain road) that throughly soaked the hat. The brim was floppy and I couldn't get it to a flat surface to dry. When it did dry, it was so mishapen, I tossed it and got another one.
