I need to get one more in. I just have to. This is my favorite and I can't let it go just yet. Today's the last day.

This is what I have already:
1 custom - definitely a safe queen
1 CG - looks too pretty to use, probably going to be a safe queen
1 CG choiled
1 CG no choil

What are your thoughts on the BOSS Jack and do you have any recommendations? If you were in my position, what would you get? Did you end up liking the CG or LE more? I have a choiled and an unchoiled user, so should I get an LE? I have never held an LE and did not get it because of the price and the saber grind, but with this much devotion to the BJ now I am thinking I should seize the opportunity.

Thanks... I can't let this model go yet. My last hurrah with the BOSS Jack. Thanks Lexi for opening the line for me to get another of these beauties in my hands! And thanks all of your for your input... I'm putting in my order by 4pm EST.

I haven't held either of them, but on intuition I'd say to go with the LE because it's thinner, and may be slightly better for slicing because of that. Anyhow, variety, since you already have three CGs!

Friday I received my only Boss Jack-LE, tan canvas w/ double black liners. Most comfortable Busse grip I've tried yet. Plus, the blade's not too heavy to lug around, at about six inches I think it'll get a lot of carry time. I followed your lead, Azwelke is making a liner for the Spec Ops combat master short sheath.

I seized the moment last night...and I blame YOU. :D DC/BP pair, with and without a choil.

I think that you NEED an LE, man. Not many Busse model LE's allow for your choice of handle. :)

what good does a choil do on a knife the size of the Boss Jack? I understand it on a smaller, detail knife but aren't you just bound to cut your finger using that choil?

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm leaning heavily toward a choilless LE now, with black something handle. Paper? Canvas? Definitely not G10 since I like the contrast of a shiny blade with a matte handle...

So Danny, you're the first one to be "right," an LE it is. When I play around with my knives at my desk at home, I naturally want to choke up on the choil for some reason. I use a chef's knife more than any other type of knife, and you know how you hold those things--you grip the flats of the blade itself, not just the handle. However, using the BOSS Jack for actual outdoors stuff last week, I felt a choil was not a good idea.

Steve, you might have to show me that LE some day! I'll bring my collection over. I'll shoot you an e-mail and set something up, maybe after Thanksgiving, bud.

And, Jaxx, glad I could influence you  that's quite an accomplishment on my part

I don't own a Boss Jack.....but I'm debating on grabbing one in jungle green/black paper to match my Boss Street from KC. But I should probably just save my money for a second AA......hmmmm.....decisions, decisions.....

Order placed... choilless LE with black paper. Thanks, hogs!

And farewell, BOSS Jack!

the le is the way to go,i like it alot better.thinner blade, lighter weight, better edge geometry.its a awesome throw in your pack and not notice it knife.yet its still a full tang busse with a perfect size for just about anything i would need it for.

the custom BJ I got is 0.18" like the LE but has a full-height convex grind like the CG. I couldn't really find in-depth comparisons of the two grinds, but I just went with the full convex because it has a cool illusory look with satin finishes

I'm sure I'll like the saber grind anyway :) can't go wrong with a boss jack

I first went with choiless LE but changed my mind about a month after ordering. I then emailed Amy and asked for a choil. I use gloves a lot and wont be carrying a smaller knife than the BJ. I also have large hands and like a bit more handle room. Also the first thing I reach for when holding my BWM is the choil. I think the habit of grabbing for one would bite me in the end had I gone choiless. If I were using it for military use I would go choiless.

I bit the bullet at deer camp after using my LE dressing out a few deer..which was awesome BTW. I prefer it to the CABS for splitting ribs for sure...which I'm moving to boning duty.
I called Lexi from my blind to get a choilless CG...she laughed at me....but it was a slow rainy morning anyway.

I had a Satin jack, and a BOSS Jack choilless LE, which was/is a beautiful knife, for sure, but somehow I just could not get used to the lenght- blade height ratio, and the handles were a bit too thin for me.
I think it need some modification to be a really "do it all" relatively lightweight knife. Even the LE is a very stout blade, and while it comes with a beautifully sharp convex edge, I found the edge too thick, still.
I would thin out the edge a bit and place two liners below the slabs-or a paracord wrap around them. that would change the feel - and performance (for usual everyday chores) for better.
Anyway it's a classic, what could be one of the most useful blades from the Busse-lineup.
Demonic, haven't you find the length a bit disturbing for dressing the deers? (I'm not a hunter-just a fisherman ...I "dressed a few fish with my LE, tho'...:)
I feel the RMD is still the best ( most comfortable) blade in the medium-med small category...I would jump for a few RMD's in INFI...:D

Actually I preferred the length on the BJLE to my CABS which I was a bit shocked to discover myself.
For fine work like all the boning, skinning, etc. I prefer the CABS. But for splitting the rib cage, the extra length made tapping the spine on the BJ easier, and the extra length was nice for "pelvic clearing" duty.

I have added one spacer on each side to the LE for a bit more width. I was all set to order a sheath for the CGBJ until I remembered the added spacers on my LE, which puts the grip just about right. So I want to try out the CG as-is first.
