I fifnished this one up the other day.It is for our annual Fall Festival and will be raffled this year just like the one I donated last year for our Historical renovations of the town I live in.
Boy was it hard to still Donate this after all that has happened to me this summer but I had promised it and so I got it done.Nothing fancy.10 inch blade of random pattern Damascus,Nickel silver guard and buttcap, elk stag that has been dyed and stabilized...
Really the only reason they got this one on time was because the blade had been ground and sitting on the shelf since spring...Please let me know what you think of this...
Bruce

Man I like this new system for posting pictures,This is the first time i have tried it.Here is a close up of the blade pattern.
Bruce

and a view from the other side...This is fun,I will have to get used to taking pictures again,Sorry these aren't the best.
Bruce

Bruce, that's Awesome! The deep etch really stands out. A very aggressive blade, and your handle flows perfectly. But best of all is your own character. You're a model for mortal humans, Bruce. Thanks for sharing.

FANTASIC, the stag and damascus pattern really go great together, it
would be hard to part with that one for any price. Sometimes I think its easier to give a great knife away as to selling it, really makes
you feel good about yourself.
Great Knife Bruce and very nice of you to donate it. ;)

Bill

Bruce, you're right, not to fancy. I believe elegant is a better description. Very elegant. Now where can we get those raffle tickets?

great knive bruce!!!!hope i can get 1/10th to that. its great to donate things,ya feel this certin kind of pride. good job.... royboy

I like the clean lines and basic design. That added with the damascus is a super combo.

Most excellent knife!!! :D

Thanks everybody,I wasn't to sure about putting the stag on tis knife at first,But after I finished it,I liked it also.

If anyone is interested in the Raffle tickets just email me and I will either put you oncontact with our Chamber of commerce,or I will be selling tickets myself.
This is a legitimate raffle if anyone is questioning it.I have donated a knife for the last three years,If you look in the archives you will see the one that I donated last year...
Yes it does good to donate a knife like this to help out my community,as they also support me as a knifemaker and artist in steel. They don't have any negatives to my buisness and I am just as respected as any other buisness in the community.I have been a member of our chamber of commerce for 3 years going on four.So this is the least that i can do.
I am also able to do demonstrations at the local schools to show the kids that not all knives are dangerous weapons but tools that are as old as man kind. Also I am showing them part of there past in watching a blacksmith work.
I am putting a display in our local library the first of September also,They have asked me to do this for 4 years now and they say they get more positive feed back from it than any other displays that they do each year.
Busy aint I:D
That is one reason I was sweating the shop being down for so long and also not having the orders to cover me through the summer,Oh well that is life and now I hope everything is back to normal around here.
Again thanks everybody for the great comments,
Bruce:cool:

Bruce, as always you make me sick and are still my hero.Stumbling onto you're website got me to try my hand at making. Thanks for posting.Beautiful as always.
Mark

Thanks for the kind words everybody.
Gouge,I don't mean to make anybody sick, guess its just that first cold of the season:D Thanks....
Bruce

That is really a beauty, Bruce! When I joined the forums 6+ months ago, I don't think I could have been labelled a real Bowie fan. Well, I am one now, and I think this one can stand up there with anybody's. It looks so fluid and graceful. I'll bet it is quick as can be. If it weren't illegal, and poorly thought of, I think it probably would feel pretty good to stick somebody with that knife. Did I say that? I take it back. Of course not. No way.

Sure is good to hear(read) a more uplifting sound in your voice (writing). I sure hope the dry season has truly ended for you, and that Happy Days are here again. (??)

The donation of hte knife shows your character more clearly than any amount of words possibly could. You're what I call, and think of, as a real man!

Keep pounding that steel!

Dave
