Ah, gray skies and a light drizzle sure is a nice break! It's been raining off and on since the weekend, so I took a cool and leisurely hike on Sunday.

It's somewhat green but I'm taking some mulefat home to dry. This is for a hand drill and I will probably also use it for the hearth board.

Dry mugwort leaves for tinder

Yucca for cordage. I was being super careful cutting it and it still got me deep enough to bleed.

As I was walking through this narrow part of the trail, about a dozen quail shot into the air making all kinds of noise. Scared the crap out of me!

Couple recent things. I finally decided to stop carrying my GI canteen cup that I have had since scouts. The GSI cup is smaller but it fits around my Nalgene and takes up a lot less room.

I also got a little Streamlight Microstream to carry on my pack. It fits in the molle webbing really nice but I will probably carry it on my pack strap. I'm always poking around in rock crevices or hiking back as it's getting dark and this way I don't have to dig a light out of my pack. Really nice little light for $15

Some really runny scat with some kind of nuts or acorns in it. It was a big pile, not sure what it's from. Looks like a Snickers bar that sat in a hot car!

Awesome pics bro, that fog and mist reminds me of the river gorge this morning when I went down earlier to catch some sunrise shots. I love the pics of the terrain in your area. I learned the hard way a while back how sharp the yucca leaves are when I harvested my first stalks. Interesting scat. How do you like the handle on that BHK Bushcrafter?

Thanks guys.

Yeah Tony but you guys have trees! I wouldn't mind more trees around here :D It's not so bad when the weather cools down though, then I don't ahve to worry about shade.

Mist, the handle is extremely comfortable to hold, it just fits perfectly with all rounded edges and no hot spots. But the oval handle and smooth round feel to it can make it feel a little slippery. every few times I use it, I sand the handle with a medium grit to get some grip back. But I have to say this is the most comfortable and useful knife you could ever want for a hundred bucks.

I been eyeballing that BKH BC for a while, I swore I would never buy customs, but I got my first Fiddleback today and I have to say, for a hundred, one of them guys may be gettin' a house in Tennessee.

Great pics T, love that terrain and climate. Its been a while since I was around that area, LOL, 2 weeks to be exact. Moose

Very cool pics! Thanks for the extra info on that bushcrafter, been thinking of scoring one for xmas this year. That scat is odd, hope its not from another hiker
