I ran into the opportunity to pick up a user Horseman,
it's due in today or Monday.
Anxious to put my first Emerson to work.

Congrats on your first. I won't carry much else these days.

As much as I hear about the 8 and Horseman, I wish I could get past the looks.

Might be different in person.

Enjoy.

I had a mini CQC 15 it was too small so I returned it for the full size 15, it's perfect, I love it! Then I got a CQC8 and this knife is too big, seems longer and heavier than the 15. So I returned the 8, I do think the Mini 8 (Horseman) will be perfect for carry and still have a large enough handle and blade. I'm sure you'll like it, I've heard nothing but good things about the Horseman.

The horseman is a great knife. 3.54 inch blade with a nice handle. I been using it for work recently, i do landscaping, i love carrying and using it.

I had a Horseman that I picked up from a friend here on the board, and I never really loved it. Its ergos were perfect, but the blade was just...it didn't end up being to my taste, so I passed it along on the Exchange. Anyway, if you like the blade shape, you'll love the Horseman. I can't say anything bad about it whatsoever. The ergos were fantastic, and it was already broken in so it was smooth as butter. I sincerely hope you like it, man.

Horseman arrived in yesterday's mail, first impressions are good...
the ergo's are great, I like the blade, I'd think it should be a good cutter.
I touched up the edge, at first I sharpied it and ran it on my Sharp Maker
to find it's a lot closer to 30 degrees than 40, so I just used a rod by hand
for now and maybe bring it to 30 later.
The pivot was set so it opened fairly easy but there was a small bit of horizontal blade play
so I tightened it up a hair, now it's still centered but stiffer than I'd prefer...
Hopefully it'll wear in, once I get it to the sweetest spot, I'll put some blue on the screw
as it does seem to loosen.
My main edc's have been Para 2, Military and ZT 801 although I mostly wind up back with
the Para 2 back in my pocket.
I'm gonna play with the Emerson and carry / use it exclusively for a month and see if it
can bump the Paramilitary out of it's slot, which wont be easy.

As for the pivot - I took a Dremel and polished the blade right under the washers with some diamond compounds and also I polished the titanium liners with 2000 grit sandpaper. Then I just WD-40'd the washers and tightened them up.
Now I have pretty fast opening with almost unnoticeable blade play, and it suits me.
And my pivot goes loose too, especially after some wave openings, so I think about threadlocker, blue - or simple nail laquer, dunno.

Try to tighten your knife and then just break it in, if it doesn't help, maybe you'll need to polish your blade for smoothness/

I've been carrying a Horseman for a week or two now. I had to remove the Wave as I found it infuriating, without the Wave, I love it. I am torn between this and a PM2. Not quite sure what I will end up with. :)

Tastes vary. To me, the looks are great and the ergos and functionality are an additional bonus!

Well, I've carried and used it every day for a week and gotta say...
I'm really liking this knife.
Its a nice handy size, the ergo's are great, its smooth, locks up tight between 50-60% and
takes a good edge easy enough.
I'm in the collision repair business so most of my regular uses are plastic shipping bands,
parts boxes, zip ties, deployed airbags, seat belts, prying pallet staples, misc.
around the house bs and it cuts cocktail limes pretty well.
Certainly not hard use but, a good knife is appreciated.
I really like the heavier blade tip, it doesn't blow through cardboard like a PM2, but its ahead of a heavy ZT blade
for slicing, I have no real problem with the blade grind which seems to cut fine for my needs and I like the wave,
I'm still getting used to the disc rather than a hole, stud or flipper...
but hell I've only opened it a thousand or so times!
I'm thinkin its time to get rid of a Spidy and ZT or 2 to make room,
CQC7 or a 13 ??
