It took over 4 years of waiting to get this one, but it was worth it. 8" blade of forged 1084, hand rubbed to 1000 grit. Nickel silver double guard and ironwood handle. This is the sharpest bowie I have EVER received from a maker! Sliced a piece of notebook paper easily with no hangup. Back edge is razor sharp back about 1/3rd of the blade length.

Jim does fantastic work doesn't he? He's amazing to watch too. He makes forging blades look so easy, and when he hits the grinder it sends a shower of sparks that looks like the space shuttle taking off. He's genuinley nice man and one heck of great bladesmith.

Great score Danbo.

Very nice, Dan. Very clean design and I really like the simple, pinned handle. The false edge looks very nicely done as well. It must be quite a knife if after 4 years of waiting it still met your expectations.

Stop it! Just stop it Dammit!

I can't take anymore of this. Danbo, you are one lucky SOB. I just wish 'all your knives are belong to Me'. ;)

You guys fail to realize one thing. Every time I post a picture of a new knife, that means that something else from my collection had or has to go. The wife just dont go for that buying knives from the community kitty fund stuff. In the case of this bowie, it is nice to know that if I get strapped for cash, someone would buy this one. I have already had 3 offers.

What a wonderful, wonderful knife. You must have exquisite taste in knives, because you and I seem to like the same styles and I know I have great taste.;)

What beautiful lines. I love it. You are right that you would have no trouble selling this one, or for that matter any of the knives that I have seen you post. Let me know if that Sendero is ever up for sale, please.

Beautiful knife, reminds me of a Dean I once had [and now I am sad that I sold the damn thing :( ]

Guys,

This is a GREAT knife, and what a custom bowie is ALL about!!!!

I own three Crowell knives (2 hunters and a folder)and they are among the most perfect blades I have seen. He has a unique style that is somewhere between Fisk and Flournoy, but not influenced much by either I would imagine.

He is a true artist of the forged blade, and I hope to own a bowie by him one day, or whenever Danbo finds something he likes better :)

Dan, thanks for sharing that knife. I am glad to see you finally have it. Between that and the ironwood Massey your cup runneth over!

Take care.

Anthony

Wow! great knife, beautiful lines. I really like his mark. Small and where they should be.

A great knife that any bowie fan would treasure in his collection. Clean, elegant lines and a gorgeous piece of ironwood.

...with it's simplicity. I really like the understated spacers at the guard. Great shapes and finish. Looks satisfying!

For those who do not know him Dan is da Bowie man. I was lucky to get to meet him a couple of years ago via Calvin Cooledge and his collection and passion for knives are equally awesome.
Beautiful knife my friend.

Danbo, you're hurtin' me bad with this one! She's beautiful! I too have a life long fascination with Bowies.... I just don't have the resources to get a custom job like that, yet. Congrats on your new knife.

I haven't even got past the Ironwood yet..!! Geeeesh...that's a truly "classic" Bowie! Thanks for posting the picture...

Danbo, I have to say that since I have been a member of Bladeforums, you have never posted a picture of a knife that I didn't want. Our taste in blades runs parallel.

Beautiful knife. Breathtaking.

What a wondeful bowie. That piece is what it is all about. I absolutely love it. Enjoy!!! Big D1
