Cool grinder and super nice shop. Glad to have you with us too. Hurry up with the wiring so you can make something. :)

*drools* I need to get me one of those. =) Whether I build one myself, or buy one... I just need one. Right now I'm doing all my finishing by hand with squares of sandpaper >_< I'm set up for blacksmithing in my shop, not bladesmithing hehe

Mmm, someone just offered me a Baldor motor cheap. So I would like to know who made the pretty anodised bit too.

Thanks Bruce,
Im hurrying :)
I built the shop while we where building our house it wasnt really in the plan but when the excavator leaves me his keys a guy might as we'll dig a hole right?
And when you are pouring footings its easy to just pour a couple more and so on until i had that shop i had always wanted.
A little over budget but the wife will get over it eventually right? ;)

Okay, I'll bite.....Who made the grinder? The anodizing is exceptionally cool.

Thanks Mark,
I freind of mine named Knut from the local knife club started making these for a few club members and now he is selling them.
I have actually had this in pieces for a while now but just now havw had the chance to get it together.
Its all made out of solid aluminum and then we sent it out to Vancouver for anodizing. A local rubber company vulcanized the rubber onto the wheel.
I put this with a 1725rpm 1 1/2 hp Baldor and it should work pretty well.

Another knifemaker friend Bob Lay has the same grinder and he let me use his with some great instruction and I knew I had to have one. :D

If you want a grinder Knut has some available right now, his web site is:

That flip-down platen-to-small-wheel is quite ingenious. Please let us know how you like it. Thanks for the link.

I like that grinder design. Looks very handy. The anodizing really does set it off too :)

We were going to powdercoat it. The things you can do with powder are amazing but it messes up all the tolerances. It gets in every hole and nothing fits. Then you have to clean up the openings for hours.:p

No problem,
Shipping might be a little steep from here to you. On items this size and up buying local means a lot.
I would seriously consider a KMG for my second grinder but with the exchange and shipping it would be a killer.
A couple of friends who are showing me the ropes have more than one grinder set up in there shops and it is an awesome luxury.

My thought is that I could save money via the exchange rate to pay for shipping. I've thought about KMG until I saw this grinder. So we shall see as how it turns out. :)
