My first Spyderco was a Native 4 in FRN & S30V bought at Wally World years ago. It had a sibling - an unused still in the box spare - but that was it for my collection of Spyderco knives... until yesterday. I finally relented and bought the Native 5 I have lusted for! I did enjoy the Native 4 as an EDC - it was 'just right' for many day to day tasks. I just wanted a screwed together version, fearing my old Native would eventually become loose at the rivets. Of course, that was unfounded - it's still as tight as the new knife. I know - I wanted finer jimping on the spine - extending back a bit on the lockbar... got that. A more secure close hold - jimping inside the choil now - got that, too. Flat grind on the blade looks less busy - more utilitarian. I'm not sure it needed the larger ID thumb hole, however. The S35VN is a nice attribute, too - as are the G10 and Torx fasteners. Mine is a bit stodgy in operation, probably newness, but perfectly centered when closed and with no play when open - just like it's well worn older sibling - again, with it's still tight pivot rivet, a definite non-issue.
Several suggested a Military or another style knife - but I really liked my Native - and the Native 5 has a familiar size feeling to it - I took the clip off and taped the screws to the clip and secured them in the box - my move of acceptance here.
