I was checking in the Forum today and seen a notification from Buck knives about a post I made several years ago concerning 112's the Custom Shop and drop point blades..Well you CAN order one now! As a big 112 fan AND a big drop point fan I have been commenting on the lack of availability in the Custom shop for YEARS to be able to order one. In fact at the Blade Show years ago I personally asked CJ twice during the weekend to Pretty Please drop a box (or even a few) DP blades off at the CS for those of us who really like them..
Finally you can! Even better you can get a S35VN DP for what I consider a very reasonable upcharge of $30.00. THANK YOU BUCK! I'll be placing a order this week for one maybe even two. I've been so bummed about this for so long I lost interest in the CS and have not kept up with the new handle material now available. I have built one with NS Buffalo horn Finger groves dozens of times but now that Buck will let me order a DP (S35VN no less!) I'm kinda rethinking the Buffalo horn.. I noticed you can get satin nickel bolsters so that's a great choice I'll pick. But what do yall think about the new handle materials? I've not seen pictures posted of the new choices so if any of you has pictures please post. Thanks again Buck!

What new materials are you thinking of? I would think the g10 and Micarta would be fairly standard. I do like the look of that burgundy linen micarta. I ordered a spitfire with g10 a couple weeks ago hoping it’s nice and grippy.

I’ve never been a fan of the stained plywood. I do have a 112 with the birch ply and while serviceable I still don’t like it. My favorite is actually the ebony which oddly enough doesn’t add to the price since it’s standard.

It is great to see an S35VN Drop Point blade and all the other choices available as custom shop options for the 112!

If you want more affordable drop point options for the 112, the 112 with a drop point blade has been (and continues to be) available as a "Web Exclusive", though your choices are limited to three preconfigured options:
* Standard Ebony with Brass, 420HC blade ($70 Retail)
* Standard Ebony with Nickel Silver, 420HC blade ($80 Retail)
* Standard Ebony with Nickel Silver, S30V blade ($120 Retail)

Congrats! Drop point blades aren't usually my thing, I prefer a clip. But I'm super happy for you! "Good things come to those who wait."

No better time to buy than now.

I have wanted to get a custom Buck ever since they created the custom shop. And I had things all planned out on how I would finally get one. Save my spending money each month from now to January. And use my Christmas and birthday money. My birthday is Jan 7th. But now it won't happen. My wife tore her rotator cuff and needs surgery. And will be out of work for probably 3 months without pay. And she is the main money maker since I am disabled. Best laid plans shot to heck. We will be worrying about paying bills no less buying a knife. Oh well. The dream continues.

Be sure to post photos of your 112 when you get it. I'm happy you got to get the drop point. I actually emailed Buck about that. And a week later it was on the custom shop.
