Well, today I am giddy as all getout. Two knives I have been wanting to get are finally ordered, a Folding Alpha and a Cabela's AG 110. I was browsing the knives in S.I.R Mail Order (a Canadian supplier) and I ran across a good deal on a Folding Alpha, which is one of my favorites. I immediately 'dropped the hammer' on the Alpha and continued to browse. Then, in a non-Buck area, I happened upon the marvelous Cabela's AG 110. I couldn't believe my eyes! Needless to say, I pulled the trigger on that puppy in record time. I am truly a happy camper!

Now the wait...

Thanks, guys, and no problemo, Jim. When these babies arrive, they are going to be photographed like Marylin Monroe! OK, maby a slight exaggeration. :)

..., I pulled the trigger on that puppy in record time...

Now we know the answer that that question the three legged dog had when he walked into the saloon and shouted "I WANNA KNOW WHO SHOT MY PAW???"....get it? "PAW" = "Pa" as in "dad".

You will really like the AG APF. Are you gonna keep the logo on the blade?

Now that is a good question, Goose. I think that I will probably remove the logo, as long as I can do so without damaging the blade finish. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the link, Goose! I think that I will go the paint stripper route.

I've been thinking about removing the logo on mine as well, but can't quite pull the trigger (worrying about that three-legged dog). Let me/us know how yours turns out if you do the deed. Thanks!!

Will do, Tin Sue. (I'm a poet and didn't know it.) :)

APF,

You have heard all the hype re the AG110. Don't believe it. It doesn't come close to what folks say about it. You are about to be shocked. You cannot prepare yourself for that thing - it will be beyond all of your expectations. You will be blown away. Mine was used sparingly the day it arrived... then put on display - what a looker. No, I didn't remove the AG logo - or black coating. Folks here conned me about the 'Custom Bucks'. Yep, fell for thatl. Got two beauties from there - too pretty to use... real lookers. They are also on display... these guys believe in the 'Misery loves company!' addage. Just get south - cross the border... okay, after the thaw... and find a Wally World - get a basic 110 -AND USE IT! Best $25 US (Probably $3 Canadian by then...) you'll ever spend. I thought I'd one day buy another AG110 as a 'user', ha ha ha...

Seriously, what a neat knife you have 'on the way'! Sharper than I would have ever thought - clearly, the same quality build as my two custom shop builds. You'll love it! Congratulations. Please use it!

Thanks, Messer and Stainz, I am really looking forward to getting these knives! Alas, the AG 110 is backordered. :(

Stainz, you sort of landed on a problem that I have with my Custom 110s. Every time I get a Custom 110, I have every intention of using it, that is until I see just how beautiful and well finished they are. I even go to the point of carrying the Customs, yet when it comes time to using one, I whimper like a little girl! At that point, off comes the Custom and on goes my plain old 110 FG. I swear to God that I spend more time polishing the Customs than using them, hence my desire for a Cabela's 110.

My thoughts about getting the Cabela's 110, other than for the great S30V steel, are that it may serve as a sort of 'bridge' between my Customs and my 420HC. I figure that if I strip the Cabela's AG logo off the blade, I can create a high grade EDC 'user', that I will not be afraid to use. Now after you telling me how great looking the Cabela's is...oh woe is me! ;)

I am finishing up a project (hopefully tonight) to be my high grade EDC 'user'. I think this is a great idea, and I will have less than the cost of a walmart 110 invested in it, so I should not feel the slightest bit bad about using it. Broken blade 25th anniversary 110 with nickel bolsters meets BG42 blade :)

Its funny, I have no problem using my REAL high dollar knives (mostly sebenzas), but there is something about fancy 110's that keeps me from doing anything that might 'hurt' them.
