I finally bought a Spyderco Police Model, did I make a mistake?

It's kinda big, the blade is kinda long and unwieldy, don't get me wrong and blast me I like Spyderco, I bought the first knife they made and have about10 or 11 in my collection, including the elusive first custom collaboration, Spyderco /Terzuola knife, I'm just not thrilled with this one, maybe a military would have been a better choice.

Oh well thanks for listenen, now fire away. :footinmou ;)

We all probably make the occasional "mistake" in our purchase decisions. Sometimes things just don't work out the way we imagined they might. No big deal really, if you decide you really don't like it you can probably sell it here on BF or ebay or somewhere.

My advice would be to play with it for a bit, you may end up changing your mind.

Carried my first police model (plainedge) EVERY DAY for 11 years. Finally retired it to my emergency bag when it started getting a bit loose. Now I'm carrying a serrrated PM. All stainless, both of them.

What's got you down? The weight's not bad, you can use the closed knife as a yawara stick, and the blade's long enough you can grip it and pry on something WITHOUT stressing the hinge or lock.

Not a mistake! The Police is a Spyderco classic - everyone should have one in their collection :D That doesn't mean that it should necessarily be your favorite. I own both and think the Military makes a better EDC blade even though I prefer the Police backlock. Spyderco manufactures such a wide range of designs that they can't all be everyones "cup of tea"

i have had 4 police models (2 SS, 1 G10 and a CF, all SE) and have liked them all, my 'heavy duty' utility knife is a SS police, which is also my back up folder i carry in my pack daily, certainly nothing wrong with one imho, i will always have at least one of them myself. the one i carry daily i got on the boards used but other than a very few minor scuffs was LNIB, $45. a lot of knife for the $$ imho.

I had a Police for a while and also couldn't get happy with it. I just didn't care for the long skinny blade and the long skinny handle. One of the things I really like about Spyderco is that they make a great variety of knives. But the fact that they make a lot of different knives pretty much guarantees that even the biggest Spyderco fan will not like every knife they make.
