Finally broke down and ordered a Falkkniven F1

I've been debating this for a couple of months now and finally pulled the trigger. All of my current fixed blade knives are carbon steel (a bunch of Swamp Rats, Scrapyards, HI khuks, Rangers, and a Cold Steel MH). The only stainless knives I have are folders - a Spyderco Delica and a Vic SAK. I love the design of the F1 but have been getting hung up on the fact that it's stainless. I hope I made the right choice.
 
I like carbon and tool steels best, but there is nothing wrong or bad with a quality stainless blade. That is a great knife and it will serve you well!
 
all right Rich! your gonna really l like it bro :D for the size and balance, after my SS4, it's right there.
 
The F1 is a good knife. Stainless does have its benefits - if you ever do anything outdoors or in any other heavily moist or salty environments, having a stainless blade can make things easier, lessening the need for blade maintenance. And the laminated VG-10 used in the F1 is nothing to scoff at. :)
 
Good on you Rich. The F1 is da bomb even if it is stainless.
 
My f-1 is my favorite fixed blade hands down....despite the "stainless factor" it is a knife you rely on....
 
You made the right choice with the F1. If I could remember all the Fallknivens that I have I would tell you, but I am sure its over a dozen of the different models. My favorite of all is the TK1 with the 3G steel and cocobola handles.

Bet you can't just have ONE Fallkniven! :D :eek:
 
You will not be disappointed in the stainless they use. Very sharp and holds an edge for a long time, and easy to sharpen. One of my favorite knives.

When the Swamprats, Scrapyard or Busse's aren't available, the F-1 is a very good backup.

You will not be disappointed. That is an excellent knife.
 
Great knife, don't let the fact that it is stainless steel get you down.

P.s. If you don't know how to sharpen a convex edge, learn now!
